Building Calluses

As you are beginning guitar lessons you are going to notice that your fingers will hurt when you are done. Your fingers are not used to pressing the strings to the fretboard yet, but the more you practice the less your fingers will hurt. You are going to have to build up calluses on your fingers. There is no good way to build up the calluses on your fingers other than consistent playing. You can read about numerous methods to make this process go faster other than practice. The pain in your fingers is well worth the effort once the calluses are formed.
