The Car Loan I want very badly

Last Tuesday evening the transmission on my 1992 Volkswagen Jetta went out. I have had this car for the past eight years and it has treated me very well. The problem was that I had 247,000 miles on it and I knew I needed to get a new car. One thing I was a little worried about is if I would be able to qualify for a Car Loan. I had some nasty credit problems a couple of years back due to a couple of credit cards. I took care of the credit cards; however I knew that they still showed up on my credit report. The nice thing is I have $3000 to put down if it came down to it.
